Well done for a fantastic event today. It was a pleasure to present on some of the reusable cups projects in Scotland and hear from so many inspiring organisations. You know it's a great event when you've taken 15 pages of notes!
I had such a wonderful time at The Plastic Free Gathering. A huge thank you for bringing together such an inspiring community, and to everyone who attended my presentation and shared your thoughts with me. Your kind messages and tags honestly made my day. I’ve learned so much from everyone who took part, and I was truly inspired by the heart and dedication behind all the projects and ideas. I’d love to keep the conversation going and find ways we can support each other’s work in reducing plastic pollution.
We attended, exhibited, and spoke at The Plastic Free Gathering. It was an insightful event, with a clear focus on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to reducing single-use plastics. Through our exhibition stand and Andy Flinn’s presentation, we showcased how Circulayo’s reusable packaging technology is helping organisations move away from single-use. We also heard from an inspiring line-up of speakers, including:
Will McCallum from Greenpeace, on the importance of citizen action and the need for corporate responsibility.
Amy Meek from Kids Against Plastic, sharing the impactful initiatives inspiring children to take action.
Rana Aljaibachi, PhD, MRSB from AquaGuard Environmental Advisors, on the science of single-use plastics and their effects on the environment and human health.
It was amazing to meet and speak to so many people who share the same ambition, including Unwaste.io, Sesi, The 2 Minute Foundation, Wild Tribe Heroes, and so many more! Thank you for hosting such an informative event and for the opportunity to present and exhibit.
Huge thanks for organising The Plastic Free Gathering. It was a fantastic event, bringing together so many people working to combat plastic pollution in many different ways.
I particularly enjoyed Amy Meek's story of how she and her sister set up Kids Against Plastic at the ages of 10 and 12, and have since grown it into a movement that supports young people to start their own campaigns - like the brilliant Poisoned by Plastic campaign (did you know that most chewing gum releases microplastics into your mouth?).
Catherine Conway talked about the fascinating work that GoUnpackaged are doing to tackle the knotty problem of getting refill adopted at scale in FCMG. For all you Service Designers out there that are interested in a service design and systems thinking challenge - this is worth watching.
Will McCallum from Greenpeace UK talked about the importance of citizen action in driving upstream change in how plastics are produced and managed - something we've always championed at Unwaste.io. Everyone has the power the power to demand better by making choices in what they buy or don't buy - other than legislation, consumer power is what is going to change things across the whole plastics value chain.
Rana Aljaibachi shared some sobering statistics about the many thousands of 'chemicals or concern' that go into plastic production, and how many thousands of these are unassessed (so we don't really know what they do to us, the planet, our kids).
Also enjoyed meeting folk from Surfers Against Sewage, The 2 Minute Foundation, SESI, Circulayo and many more!
I hope this event goes from strength to strength, it's so important for people with ideas and experience across policy, research, innovation and community action to come together.
It was amazing to hear such thought provoking presentations and connect with like minded people. I really enjoyed how it was a mix of people who had different experiences but had one aim to tackle the plastic pollution problem. It was nice that there were people from charities, councils and academics in the field.
Thank you Greg and your incredible team for bringing us together to explore the next steps and strategy to a better, circular economy. The number of speakers we listened to were so inspiring and our learning rich indeed. Looking forward to attending in 2026!
The Plastic Free Gathering closed with a powerful and thought-provoking session that brought together research, policy, and grassroots voices to chart the way forward in tackling plastic pollution. I had the privilege of speaking alongside experts from the Revolution Plastics Institute (RPI) and Everyday Plastic, who are shaping the global conversation with evidence, creativity, and community power.
I was online the whole time taking notes and it was a great day spent with people that all felt frustrated by the amount of plastic still being produced yet hopeful for some change!
Thank you so much for organising this, and it made me realise there are lots of disparate things happening, but a way of connecting them all and building awareness would be good.
Thanks for inviting us and congratulations for bringing everyone together for a great event!
Thank you for inviting us to speak at such an engaging and informative event, and well done to everyone involved in bringing it together!
Well run event and a great section of people and offerings well done.
You did an amazing job, thank you for all your efforts for the greater good and getting us all together.
Fantastic event and very grateful to be a part of it.
